The Oak Island Lighthouse 5k Run and Walk is a fun event with breathtaking views.

8:15a.m. @ Middleton Park Extension, Dolphin Drive/SE 46th Street, Oak Island.


Chalk Art at the Start:

6:00am- 7:00am @ Middleton Park Extension, Dolphin Drive/SE 46th Street, Oak Island. Arrive early and help create a unique Start/Finish Line by participating in the Chalk Art at the Start. Chalk will be provided. Sponsored by Pescado y Amor Paint Studio


Race Day Stretch & Warm Up:

Join us for a free 10 minute Warm Up at 7:00 a.m. at the the Start/Finish Line.


Water Stops: Start Area, near 1-mile (1910 Dolphin Drive), near 3-Mile (Yacht Drive between 14th & 15th Streets), & Finish. 


Parking:  Street Parking.There is plenty of parking around the Start/Finish area on race day! DO NOT Park along the course routes!

Do Park:

  • First Baptist Church at Oak Island 4608 E. Oak Island Drive has parking around the church and a lot on NE 48th Street.  
  • Oak Island Town Hall -4601 E. Oak Island Drive.  Parking behind and along the side of Town Hall and on SE 46th Street to Pelican Drive. (do not park beyond Pelican Drive on SE 46th Street). 
  • Pelican Drive from SE 46th to SE 40th Street.
  • SE 49th Street along the sides of the road and in grass parking area designated with volunteers. 
  • Cabana Parking Lots on Dolphin Drive.  There are three large parking lots but they can only be accessed by turning off  SE 49th Street. DO NOT access from SE 46th Street.  

Pets:  We are sorry but pets are not allowed on the course.


Online Pre-Registration:

Closes 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. You may still register online after this date but those who do will pick up packets from the registration tent and not the pre-registration area.


Registration & Packet Pick Up: 
Friday, November 13, 2020 from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.
@ NC Baptist Assembly at Fort Caswell, 100 Caswell Beach Road, Caswell Beach

Parking Details: Stop at Guard Gate and identify yourself with the Oak Island Lighthouse Run/Walk. Registration building is the first building to the right. Park in the open area in front of the pool.


Race Day Registration & Packet Pick Up:
Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 6:00a.m. to 7:00a.m.

Parking Details: Street parking. To avoid a ticket, make sure all four tires are off the road. Please do not park on the race routes.


Non-Refundable Fees:

Until January 13th - $25.00 per person

January 14th - October 5th - $30.00 per person

October 6th - November 11th- $35.00 per person

November 12th- November 14th - $40.00 per person


$5.00 off for Children ages 6-15, Active Military and Law Enforcement.


To keep our entry fees reasonable and maintain a fun filled event the base entry fee will not include a t-shirt.  You have the option to add a t-shirt and/or cap onto your base entry fee. The price of the base registration has also decrease to reflect this change. 


Included in Base Entry Fee:

Timed race bib, 3-D finisher medal, Pelican Snoballs, Pizza, Fruit, Water and Music by Blue Tulip Jazz Duo at the After Race Party and one beer (must be 21 years of age or older to receive beverage token).


Finisher Medals:

All 5k finishers will receive a 3-D race medal to show off their accomplishment. Finisher medal will be similar to the Half Marathon medal but smaller.

After Run Party Music by Blue Tulip Jazz Duo on the Band Shell in Middleton Park Extension from 8:0am - 9:30am.

First Aid Tent - Coastal Companion Care is providing staffing for the First Aid Tent.  If you need a bandaid, some ice or your blood pressure checked, please visit the First Aid Tent located near the Start/Finish Line.  If needed, The Town of Caswell Beach, Town of Oak Island and Brunswick County will provide paramedic level assistance on the course and at the Start/Finish area. 

After your race, participants are invited to enjoy a Pelican's SnoBalls on us. 


Optional T-Shirts:

Shirts in male and female cuts will be available for an additional fee. Men's Sport-Tek crew neck shirt.  Female Sport-Tek V-neck shirt. Participants must pre-order their shirt by 11:59p.m.on October 5th.  Shirts not picked up by 7:30am on November 14th will be forfeited. Optional Shirt fee is $15.00 each.

Optional Dri Mesh Running Cap:

Participants must pre-order their Dri Mesh Running Cap by 11:59p.m. on October 5th.  Caps not picked up by 7:30am on November 14th will be forfeited. Optional cap fee is $12.00 each.


5K Awards Ceremony:
Awards ceremonies for all runs will begin at 10:00 a.m. Award winners are responsible for picking up award at the awards ceremony or at the Chamber Welcome Center the Monday following the event.


5K Awards:

Print with special artwork by Ricky Evans, a self taught artist whose name has become synonymous with lighthouses along the eastern United States coastline.  Ricky Evans opened his own gallery, Art @ 211 The Ricky Evans Gallery located at 211 N. Howe Street in Southport, NC. A framing discount is given for the prints. Trophies will be given instead of prints to age groups 6-9 and 10-14.

Race Transfers:

Entry Fees are non-refundable. Transfer to another Lighthouse Race:  Registrants may request a race entry transfer from the 2020 race to the 2021 race. The request must be submitted by 12:01 am on Monday, November 11th. If you were pre-registered before March 20th you may transfer your entry to the April 17, 2021 or April 9, 2022 race.
