The Oak Island Lighthouse 1/2 marathon offers runners a challenging course with unique and breathtaking views. Runners will be rewarded with views of the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway & marshlands and get a break from the sun under a canopy of Live Oak and Long Leaf Pinetrees. The 1/2 marathon will begin and end at Middleton Park Extension, Oak Island.
The 1/2 marathon course begins at Middleton Park Extension running west on Dolphin Drive to 43rd with a fast easterly turn onto Beach Drive and then north on 58th Street.
As you cross Oak Island Drive, heading North on 58th Street to Yacht Drive, you begin a serine journey where tree lined streets meander through neighborhoods of year-round residents. Turning south onto Barbee Boulevard, crossing Oak Island Drive, you emerge onto Ocean Drive where the gentle breaks from the waves can be heard.
A few turns later and you are on Caswell Beach Road and you can see the Oak Island Lighthouse standing tall in the distance giving you encouragement along the way.
Once you reach the Oak Island Lighthouse turn around and retrace your route until you get to 46th off Beach Drive, where two quick turns take you to the Finish.
